A CPN number is also referred to as a credit profile number, a credit privacy number, or a secondary credit number. (SCN). It can be used to obtain credit and is sometimes used in place of a social security number in certain circumstances.

CPN's are kind of a thing of the past. I have two personally that I've been building the last couple years. Its a Credit Profile Number. Its basically a SSN that hasn't ever been issued to a person. That is if you can find one. Lots of dead people and children's SSN numbers have been sold as a "CPN". Essentially it allows someone a second chance with a credit profile. If the are built well enough, they can actually become a new identity someone can use.
